Hi, welcome!

I am a second year Ph.D. student advised by Chris Donahue in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. My research lies at the intersection of machine learning and music, where I leverage tools from ML and music information retrieval (MIR) to work on musical tasks. My goal is to find ways to enhance how we engage and interact with music as well as inspire musical creativity.

More about me and music

I do really like the research I get to do, so it should go without saying that I'm very interested in music. I play some guitar and some keyboard. I tried my hand at the mandolin too at some point. I'm not partically good at any of my instruments, but I thoroughly enjoy spending time with them. I also like listening to music, dancing to it, having it play in the background...
I feel that music is significant in so many different ways from cultural expression to emotional understanding and exploration. But my favorite thing about it is its ability to enable self-expression. I know that a lot of people feel the same way. It is because of this that at the core of my research is the goal of helping people engage with music in meaningful ways. I'm still very much in the beginning, but it appears to be an exciting journey.
